An upstate New York public school district is torn apart by corrupt politicians, racial divides, and escalating violence. After a prominent town leader is kidnapped, can a romantic connection between a young Hasidic man and a Hispanic woman bring this town together?

Three families embark on a holiday not knowing their destination. When they arrive they find that they have been chosen to live with three primitive tribes. The families will have to adjust to living without the luxuries which they once took for granted.

A Marine Corps drill instructor who is disgusted by the fact that the Corps now accepts draftees finds himself pitted against a hippie who has been drafted but refuses to accept the military's way of doing things.

Tribes tells the story of an African American, an Arab-American and a white guy who try to rob a subway wagon. Because none of them wants to rob people of their own race, it sets them off to a series of arguments over self-identity. This leads the would-be bandits to continually divide the passengers into various ethnic, cultural and economic subgroups in an effort to find a class of people that none of them identify with - a group they can feel good about robbing. When the train arrives at the next station, no one expects that the situation would be reversed. Self-identity is truly a bitch.
